Global Forum in Romania
Global Forum is an annual international and independent event, a Think Tank dedicated to the Economic, Political and Social issues related to the successful evolution of the Information Society.
Romania has won the competition with US, China and Switzerland to organize this year the 18th edition of the Global Forum.
The event will take place on Monday the 19th & Tuesday the 20th, October 2009 at the Parliament Palace in Bucharest. It’s the first time in its 17 yearold history when the event will take place in an Eastern European country.
The event is organized under the High Patronage of the Romanian Presidency. Traian Basescu, President of Romania will attend the forum sessions.

Over 250 political leaders, mayors, multinational company leaders, university professors and different association representatives, well-known consulting and law firms are expected to participate in Global Forum 2009.
Among the attendees, representatives of the US Administration, the European Commission, and the United Nations Organization, governmental representatives from Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Middle East are expected.

Furthermore, Bucharest mayors, deputy mayors and/or IT department directors (from cities such as Taipei, Issy-Les-Moulineaux, Stockholm, Trikala, Parma and many others) are also expected to attend the event.
With this occasion, Global Forum 2009 will host local government special dedicated sessions where the Romanian municipality mayors, the county presidents and the IT department directors of the Romanian city halls and regional councils have been invited.
Global themes that will cover a wide range of topics
Discussions about the crisis and its effects, measures to stimulate and reshape the global economy, through the means of IT&C will be approached.
From the Internet of the future to digital media, from local public services to national and pan-European services, from climate issues to biotechnology, from telemedicine to electronic payments, all the actual themes will be debated by the participants invited this year to Romania.
The local government representatives, private companies, universities and other organizations in Romania will have the occasion to follow presentations related to different financing programs and forms, to develop collaborative relationships and close partnerships with institutions and organizations worldwide.
